com-是個(gè)構(gòu)詞能力很強(qiáng)的原生詞綴，它來(lái)自拉丁介詞cum,原意是with,在構(gòu)詞中又發(fā)展出together,以及altogether或completely（表示加強(qiáng)詞義）的意思。com-有co-,col-,con-,cor,coun-五種變體，其用法取決于詞根字母。具體地說(shuō)，com-用在b,m,p,f之前；col-用在l之前；cor-用在r之前；co-出現(xiàn)在元音字母h,gn之前；而con-則用在其余的輔音字母之前。值得注意的是，自十五世紀(jì)以來(lái)，co-變成英語(yǔ)的派生詞綴，能跟動(dòng)詞、名詞、形容詞相綴合，表示together,joint等意思。這時(shí)，它沒(méi)有形體變化，可以出現(xiàn)在任何字母之前（往往帶有連接字符）。由于com-的導(dǎo)體比較多，我們最好依照它的構(gòu)詞特點(diǎn)分別介紹它的派生詞。詞外com-還有一些同義前綴，如syn-也具有“聯(lián)合”的含義。

先看幾個(gè)以com-,col-,cor-開(kāi)頭的原生派生詞。

1.combat [com- = with 與；bat = to beat 打→“與...打仗”]
vt.跟...戰(zhàn)斗，反對(duì)

4.collide [col-(com-) = together 一起；lid = to strike 撞；-e →“撞在一起”]

5.correspond [cor-(com-) = with 與；respond =to answer 應(yīng)答→"...相方應(yīng)答”]
vi. 符合，一致;通信
舉例：His promise and his performance do not correspond. 他的言行不一。

6.collaborate [col(com)= with +labor(=work)一起工作]
vi. 合作，協(xié)作
舉例： The conductor collaborated brilliantly with the members of the orchestra. 那位指揮家和交響樂(lè)團(tuán)的成員合作得非常出色。

下面各舉一例子說(shuō)明con-出現(xiàn)在其它輔音字母前的情況。
