直接源自古英語(yǔ)的stocc，意爲(wèi)樹(shù)樁，柱子，樹(shù)乾；最初源自古日耳曼語(yǔ)的stukkaz，意爲(wèi)樹(shù)乾。

stock用作形容詞的意思是“儲(chǔ)備的”,轉(zhuǎn)化爲(wèi)動(dòng)詞意思是“供應(yīng),貯存”。
stock可用作及物動(dòng)詞,也可用作不及物動(dòng)詞。用作及物動(dòng)詞時(shí)接名詞或代詞作賓語(yǔ)。
stock後接副詞up表示“採(cǎi)辦貨物或用品”; 後接介詞with表示“配備”。
