state作名詞的基本意思是“狀態(tài),狀況”,指人或物在外觀、心靈、健康等方面的自然“狀態(tài)”或“情況”,是可數(shù)名詞,常用于in a state of...的結(jié)構(gòu)。
state還可作“國家”解,如強(qiáng)調(diào)其政治實(shí)體性時(shí),首字母常大寫; 不強(qiáng)調(diào)政治實(shí)體性時(shí)則首字母可小寫。state還可作為一個(gè)國家中的“州,邦”解,作此解時(shí)是可數(shù)名詞。
state還可作“盛禮,隆重的儀式”解,一般是與政府或統(tǒng)治者有關(guān)的機(jī)構(gòu)舉行的活動(dòng),是不可數(shù)名詞。

state的基本意思是“陳述”,常指在正式或莊重的場合陳述觀點(diǎn)、看法等,而且這種陳述常含有仔細(xì)、詳盡而明確的意味。
state一般用作及物動(dòng)詞,接名詞、代詞、that從句、帶疑問詞的從句作賓語。還可接以“to be+ n. ”或to have+ v -ed充當(dāng)補(bǔ)足語的復(fù)合賓語。
state常用于“It is/was stated that...”結(jié)構(gòu)。
state相比于say表達(dá)更正式，常用于正式的公文或者商業(yè)文件，表示“說，陳述，聲明”。The chairman stated that the contract would be signed on 16th April. The teacher said that he had to go back to classroom soon.
一般情況下，我們可以說The negotiations are stated to have broken down.而不能說They state the negotiations to have broken down；
state首字母s大寫，表示為“國家”，例：the political policy of the State；
