常用用法

result的基本意思是“發(fā)生,產(chǎn)生”,指某原因必然導(dǎo)致的狀態(tài)、情形或事變。常用于可感知的事物。用作不及物動(dòng)詞,常與from, at連用。

result作名詞時(shí)的基本意思是“結(jié)果,效果,后果”,指某原因所產(chǎn)生的最終結(jié)果,而不是眼前的結(jié)果,有時(shí)可指一種獨(dú)特的、出乎意料的結(jié)果,作此解時(shí),用單復(fù)數(shù)形式均可。
result引申還可作“成效”解。
result還可表示“人、球隊(duì)、團(tuán)體參加考試或競(jìng)賽的結(jié)果、成績(jī)”。作此解時(shí),一般用復(fù)數(shù)形式。
result from意為“因……而起”，而result in表示“導(dǎo)致……的結(jié)果”。[Hard working results in success.|努力工作成就成功。}Success results from hard working. 成功來(lái)自努力工作。
有時(shí)候result與results可竄用。The result(s) of the examination will be published early in August. 考試的結(jié)果會(huì)在八月初公布。
句子類型The result is that she become a greater fool than before在口語(yǔ)中常省略句首的the；
as a result of普遍被應(yīng)用，而as the result則不常用；
with the result后常接that從句。My room was small and looked out on a narrow courtyard, with the result that I always felt fenced in. 我的房間很小，看出去是個(gè)很窄的庭院，致使我總覺(jué)得自己被困在柵欄中一樣。

這兩個(gè)短語(yǔ)的意思正相反:result from表示“由…引起或產(chǎn)生”,句子的主語(yǔ)指結(jié)果, from的賓語(yǔ)指起因; result in表示“產(chǎn)生或?qū)е履撤N結(jié)果”,句子的主語(yǔ)指起因, in的賓語(yǔ)指結(jié)果。例如:

這些名詞均含“結(jié)果”之意。
consequence多指隨某一事件引起的，必然或自然的不良結(jié)果，不強(qiáng)調(diào)直接的因果關(guān)系，而側(cè)重事件發(fā)展的邏輯關(guān)系。
result普通用詞，含義廣泛，側(cè)重因某種原因所產(chǎn)生的最終結(jié)果，而不是眼前的結(jié)果。
effect指因某種原因直接產(chǎn)生的結(jié)果，著重持續(xù)穩(wěn)定與其影響。
outcome普通用詞，多指事物經(jīng)過(guò)一系列發(fā)展變化所導(dǎo)致的最終結(jié)局，而不是某種原因的直接結(jié)果。?？膳cresult通用。
