詞源解說
- 14年左右進入英語，直接源自古法語的intendre，意為引起某人的注意；最初源自古典拉丁語的intendere，意為轉移注意力。
用法辨析
- intend的基本含義是“意欲,打算”,指把注意力集中在某一確定要完成的事或達到的明確目的上,也可表示一心想要某人或某事服務于或達到某一目的。
- intend多用作及物動詞。其后可接名詞、動名詞、動詞不定式或由that引導的從句作賓語,也可接由“to be/as+ n. ”或動詞不定式充當補足語的復合賓語。有時還可以接雙賓語,其間接賓語可轉化為介詞for的賓語?？捎糜诒粍咏Y構。
- intend后接動詞不定式或動名詞在意思上沒有明顯差別,只是動詞不定式比動名詞常見些。
- intend用于過去時或過去完成時時,后接動詞不定式表示以前有所計劃,但未能實現(xiàn)。
- intend后接的that從句中,謂語動詞須用虛擬語氣。
- intend后面多接不定式，而少用動名詞，如I intend to go的格式比較常見；
- 當intend后面有賓語時，也多用不定式。I intend him to do it at once. 我打算讓他立刻著手做這事。
- 當表達“打算的事未實現(xiàn)”的意思時，不用虛擬語氣，而僅需體現(xiàn)“打算”這個動作較早。I had intended to come, but was prevented by the bad weather.
