用法辨析
- guess的基本意思是從不肯定的、不充足的或模糊的含義中“猜”,可表示“猜”的動作“猜測”,也可表示“猜”的結果“猜出”“猜中”。
- guess可用作不及物動詞,也可用作及物動詞。用作及物動詞時,接名詞或代詞如answer, riddle, thought, age, outcome, result等作賓語,還可接that或疑問詞引導的從句。guess也可接以動詞不定式或“to be/as n./adj. ”充當補足語的復合賓語。
- guess用作不及物動詞時,常與介詞at連用,有“猜猜看”的意思,但并不表示“猜中”。guess后也可加right〔wrong〕,表示“猜對〔錯〕”。
- 在美國口語中,I guess(一般現(xiàn)在時)常用以表示“認為,想”,相當于I think或I suppose。后面跟從句,語氣較婉轉,也可以用so或not來替代前面句中肯定式或否定式的賓語。
