ahead的基本意思是“在前面”，指空間、時(shí)間、位置超前，也可指關(guān)系“超過”“比…強(qiáng)”。ahead雖譯為“在前”，但其含義有時(shí)卻指“以后”，即“到將來”。
ahead常修飾動(dòng)詞，在句中作狀語(yǔ), 也可修飾名詞或名詞性短語(yǔ)，在句中作后置定語(yǔ)。
ahead還可作表語(yǔ)，后面接介詞in時(shí)表示“在某方面領(lǐng)先”; 后面接介詞of時(shí)表示“在前，優(yōu)于，面臨著”。
ahead不用于比較等級(jí)。
